關於臺南國際攝影節
臺南府城作為臺灣最早開發的城市，自有其重要的歷史文化內涵，自1624年建城初始至2024年，臺南即將迎接建城四百年的新紀元，為呈現臺南府城的發展軌跡，「臺南國際攝影節‧TiFF」應運而生，從2018年開始以雙年展的形式舉辦，藉由「攝影」觀點重新梳整臺南的歷史文化紋理。
第一屆「臺南國際攝影節」將於今年11月在主展場蕭壠文化園區全面開展，同時串聯城區的藝文替代空間，先以溪北（曾文溪以北）在地的生活與產業為範圍，以攝影創作為主體，呼喚臺南的歷史，地理，人文，橫向連結今日臺南不同空間的現況，交織不同的經緯向度，描繪出更清晰立體的臺南樣貌。
整個攝影節的概念是以八年的時間持續進行探索、挖掘、研究、思考，脈絡整理的歷程．全新的創作呼應歷史照片，真實的臺南場景映照臺灣的攝影創作畫面．藉由影像與影像，影像與文本，影像與實景間，相互的對話，動態的梳理還待書寫的臺南攝影史。
為了重塑市民大眾與影像創作者的關係，攝影節期間，將藉由各式不同的活動規劃，攝影上牆-靜態展場；攝影上街- 影像進入街頭公共空間；攝影上台-攝影家動態的影像播放；攝影上桌-Tainan photo GO年輕攝影家交流場；攝影上網-無遠弗屆的數位連結，將攝影臺南推上國際舞台。
攝影影像的世界何其寬廣，臺南國際攝影節尊重不同類型的攝影影像，所有不同型態的影像創作都同等重要，並藉由教育推廣活動，舉辦攝影工坊；邀請不同領域的學者、專家，創作者座談研討；廣泛的攝影寫作與訪談，更希望憑藉影像思辯形塑臺灣文化的主體性。

ABOUT TiFF
Being the first developed city in Taiwan, Tainan is endowed with abundant cultural heritages. Founded in1624, Tainan is going to celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2024. To usher in a new era, “Tainan International Foto Festival”, which will be launched in 2018 biennially, is organized to present Tainan’s chronicle of development through systematize its historic and cultural contexts.
The first “Tainan International Foto Festival” will be exhibited in Soulangh Cultural Park as a main platform this November. Associating with other alternative art spaces in Tainan City, the Festival aims to employ photography as the theme to piece together Tainan’s history, geography, and human culture focusing on life and industries in the areas located at the north of Zengwen River. Interweaving the landscapes across spaces and time, the Festival intends to depict a vivid and substantial image of Tainan City.
The concept of “Tainan International Foto Festival” is to progressively explore, investigate, study, and think in an 8-year timeline. New projects will be created to pay homage to historic photos while the present Tainan City is reflected by the images of Taiwan’s photography creations. The dialogues between images, images and contexts, images and scenes dynamically form Tainan’s ongoing photography history.
In order to reconnect the relation between citizens and photographers, various projects will be carried out including: photography on the walls in exhibition halls, photography on the streets in public spaces, photography on show with the broadcast of photographers’ moving images, photography on the tables represented by open studios among young photographers in Tainan photo GO, photography on net established by ubiquitous digital networks, which will further push forward Tainan’s photography on international stage.
Respecting infinite creativity from various fields of photography, Tainan International Foto Festival welcomes and values different types of images since all the creations are equally important. Through holding educational events and photography workshops to appeal to the public, we invite scholars, professionals, and creators to join symposiums and exchange ideas. We hope to shape cultural subjectivity of Taiwan based on the dialogues of images with the approaches of comprehensive photography articles and interviews.
