I began shooting these series of images in 1998, and I continued until 2012.
The initial motive to take pictures was just to practice my photography skills, then I realized the importance of keeping record of what I’ve captured. Gradually, I redirect my camera lenses from people to our surroundings.
Recently, as I was organizing old photos, I found that there was a hidden language and underlying emotion connecting the photos, be it figure portraits or random shots of scenery.
As time goes by, the people and the scenery in the series have undergone changes. Staring into these pictures, a sense of profound heaviness always fills my heart, an unspeakable sentiment of trying to reinterpret something new from fragments of the past. In the never-ending flow of time, photos serve as the anchor of memories, where I can gently place my longing.
